CONSTRAINT : to take x for y (when x = glass of white wine, y = camera obscura.)
INVENTION : “camera obscura in vino veritas”. Lens and mirror are housed in the stem of a goblet ; the image appears on the surface of the wine. Construction and use in : Hérigone, Supplementum cursus mathimatici, 1642 ; and illustration in : J. Zahn, Oculus artificialis, 1685.
WORKS : intimate portraits of pretty lady guests at table, and a gallery of bearded courtiers their eyes askance. All works lost, no reproductions exist.
